Stylish Winter Accessory Trends

Stylish Winter Accessory Trends -:

Winters in Korea can be long and harsh. From below-freezing temperatures to gusty blizzards, its no wonder Koreans invented the warm heating floors of ondol. Once outside, you will need all the necessities to battle the freezing cold. Remember the days when you bundled up so much for winter that you looked like a stuffed bear and could barely move? Well, those days are gone, and you can bundle up in style while staying warm and cozy. Here are some of the hottest winter accessory trends.

Leg insertions, warmers, and ankle socks -:
Leg insertions in fur are a trickle-down trend that stemmed from the runways of Chanel and D and Gs fur-covered boots. Since it is a rather expensive trend, streetwear fashion has translated it into faux fur leg insertions. You can throw them over an old pair of boots to create a new, sophisticated, and stylish look.
Leg warmers are back with a vengeance, but not those flashy kinds used for aerobics in the 80s. Todays knit insertions come in thick cable knitwear in muted neutral colors that is worn over chunky ankle boots to keep you warm on your winter strolls.

Gloves -:
Gloves are a winter accessory you cant live without. This seasons gloves come in an array of styles, fabrics, lengths, and colors. One strong trend is the long elbow-length glove reminiscent of those worn in the 30s and 40s. They usually come in leather or suede and can be worn tight or loose. Long knitted, fingerless gloves are also fashionable in full colors such as trendy crimson or mossy green, adding a rich contrast to your outfit. Wear them loose and scrunched up to add another layer of cool to your warm look.

Chunky knit scarves and hats -:
Scarves are winter staples that have proven to be a recurring trend these past seasons. The short basic wool scarf has evolved into different interpretations. Youll find the giant scarf worn looped around or left long to hang, the infinity scarf [a tubular scarf that can be worn around the neck or over the head as a hood], or the snood a hooded scarf. One thing they all have in common is that they are made of thick and chunky knits. Hand-knitted hats in Technicolor-bright hues are another winter must you cannot miss.

Leopard print accessories -:
Just when you thought you were done seeing spots, another animal comes prowling back in. This seasons catch is the leopard, as seen in everything from coats to shoes, belts, scarves, and bags. Just be careful to wear this trend as an accent, or it can be overkill and youll find yourself becoming an endangered species.

Skinny belts -:
Another retro trend, skinny belts are about 2cm in width and are usually worn tight around the waist to accentuate a womans curves, as in the 50s. Todays skinny belts come in bright colors worn over monochromatic coats and chunky sweaters or cardigans as a pop of color.

Where to shop -:
You can find all these accessories in many small shops or at street vendors in the young and trendy areas of Myeong-dong, Ewha Womans University, Samcheong-dong, or Garosugil. Just remember not to wear more than one trend at a time, or you may look like a fashion victim. Stay warm and happy shopping!!
